Independent Education Conference: Practical Strategies for a Changing World

The third annual conference on strategic issues for independent schools, organised in conjunction with mtmconsulting limited, will take place on Tuesday 16th September 2008.

Following the success of the conferences staged in 2006 and 2007, this year’s event will take place at a new central London venue with more extensive facilities.

The conference is for Heads, Bursars and Governors or anyone concerned with or responsible for the health of your school as a successful business.

Amongst the speakers will be:

  • Sir David John, Trustee of Llandovery College and Chairman of BSI Group, Premier Oil Plc and Balfour Beatty Plc
  • Neil McIntosh, Chief Executive of CfBT Education Trust, one of the top 20 UK charities, whose interests include a chain of independent schools in the UK and overseas
  • Nigel Richardson, Geadmaster of The Perse School, Cambridge, and former chairman of the Headmasters’ and Headmistresses’ Conference
  • Chris Whittle, Chief Executive of Nations Academy, an international joint venture between Edison Schools and GEMS, and former chief executive of Edison Schools.

This year there will also be breakout sessions, giving you a choice of practical seminars on vital issues facing schools in 2008, including:

  • Public benefit: what activities will count and what credit will you get for them?
  • Bursaries: using marketing techniques to target the children and families who can really benefit
  • Trading companies: how a successful trading company can support your school
  • Consolidation, mergers and acquisitions: how much does size matter?
  • The obstacles to choice: what stops parents choosing independent schools and how to remove the obstacles
  • International opportunities: capitalising on the burgeoning worldwide demand for UK education brands.

We look forward to seeing you in London in September.
