Managing Change in General Practice (Cardiff venue)

A half day training session for all GP’s and practice managers

Introduction

The new GP contract was expected to lead to substantial improvements in pay and conditions for GPs. The ability to opt out of out of hours cover was particularly welcome and there were substantial increases in profits in 2004/5 and 2005/6.

However changes in 2006/7 have lead to reduced profits and political pressure is now being applied to extend surgery opening hours and increase GP workload.

GPs are used to coping with change but recent developments have left many wondering how to maintain an acceptable standard of living and develop their practices and services to patients.

This half day seminar will quantify the extent and the reasons for reduced profits, and will highlight some of the current financial and legal issues that practices need to consider.

We will review what can be done to improve your net income through the legitimate reduction of tax liabilities and how to analyse and plan for the successful development of your practice.

Approach

The seminar comprises of a series of presentations and a closing question and answer session.  There will be ample opportunity for delegates to raise questions and to discuss practical situations and real life problems.
