Regulatory law

The responsibilities of local authorities for the investigating and prosecution of regulatory offences are forever increasing. There may also be occasions where a local authority itself is subject to investigation as a result of breaches of regulations particularly Health and Safety legislation.

Lawyers within our Regulatory Team have gained a broad spectrum of expertise working in partnership with local authority and police clients either in the prosecution or defence of regulatory offences. This expertise extends to regulations concerning enviromental health, food safety, animal health and welfare anti social behaviour (ASBOs, SOPOs RSHOs and football banning orders) Health and Safety and Trading Standards.

Our clients expect and receive advice and support throughout all stages of either prosecuting or defending regulatory offences. This can include investigation, prosecution and enforcement. We have advised district councils, county councils, and the Standards Board for England and Wales on a variety of regulatory issues.
