Regeneration and community development

We have a variety of experience ranging from major regeneration projects to community partnerships. We also have experience of New Deal for Communities Trusts and City Academies. This experience is highly relevant to our local government practice since local authorities are always their key partners.

We have advised in regeneration projects which have involved use of CPO powers, the regeneration of housing, education partnerships and partnerships for sub-regional and area economic regeneration. In all of these partnerships local authorities have been key stakeholders and partners.

Work experience/case studies:

  • Bristol Harbourside one of the largest inner city regeneration projects involving an area of 60 acres of land in the city centre of Bristol which comprised dereliction, a former and highly contaminated town gas works site and a municipal car park.
  • Acting for a district council in the northern part of the south west region in relation to the regeneration of its bus centre site as a multiplex cinema, health centre and additional retail accommodation connecting into the historic retail high street and a previous shopping centre development.
  • Acting for numerous community partnerships specifically south Bristol and in Luton including in the development of community facilities providing doctors' surgeries, pharmacies, library and other community space and (in one case) a church.
