Confidential information

From time to time, all organisations have to disclose information they would rather keep confidential. For instance, the information might be technical, financial, commercial or concern a patentable information.

Before releasing confidential material to a third party, it is vital to ensure that you have a written agreement covering how the third party may use that material and to whom, if anyone, it may communicate it.

We can provide an agreement for use in a specific situation or an agreement for you to use as a standard document as many times as you wish. If someone breaches your confidentiality agreement we can help you to take action and minimise the disruption this caused to you.

We can also advise you on confidentiality agreements presented to you by others. Not all confidentiality agreements are the same, someone else's standard document is very likely to favour them.

Work experience/case studies:

  • Providing a market-leading design company with standard confidentiality agreements for use when proposing new designs to potential clients. Routinely advising the same design company on confidentiality agreements provided by its clients and potential clients.
  • Advising a technology company on its confidentiality arrangements with prototype manufacturers and developers, particularly in the period before patents are filed.
  • Advising a police force on confidentiality issues, and contractual arrangements with a television company, in connection with the making of a high profile television documentary.
