Our specialist Intellectual Property team regularly advise Central Government departments on all aspects of the protection, exploitation and enforcement of all forms of technology and intellectual property.

This includes advice on the effective management of intellectual property rights, optimising returns and also joint venture, project partnership arrangements and licensing.

Work experience/case studies:

  • Advising the Fire Service College on intellectual property and information technology law issues in relation to its computerised training facilities.
  • For UKHO we have advised and assisted on project Harriet, UKHO's first domestic and commercial joint venture involving the formation of Seazone Solutions Limited jointly with Metoc plc for the exploitation of intellectual property. We advised on the joint venture agreement, the constitution of the joint venture company, intellectual property issues including branding, competition law, licensing, merger control and product liability.
  • Advising UKHO in connection with the ownership and exploitation of encryption technologies developed under an international joint venture with a foreign government agency, and the conduct of a subsequent dispute.
