Trainee responses...

  • Olivier Burnside - Cross Border
Olivier Burnside The work with which I have been involved has varied from seat to seat and I have been responsible for a huge variety of work. The firm is good at ensuring that you are entrusted with appropriate levels of responsibility, so while you may not be expected to run transactions worth millions of pounds, you will nevertheless take on much of the disclosure work and will be asked to help to negotiate and draft parts of the documents involved.
  • Emma-Jane Burnell - Schools
Emma-Jane Burnell The work of a trainee is very varied - and this one of the best aspects of the work. The type of work will depend largely on the seat but trainees can expect to play a large role in some matters and may get the opportunity to run some files on their own - particularly in the litigation teams. During the course of my training contract, I have also been able to become involved in several larger and more complicated matters.
  • Nick Martindale - Commercial
Nick Martindale I’ve been involved in general commercial property work including acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant, and both freehold and leasehold title issues for clients such as GP surgeries, Bristol based SME’s and PricewaterhouseCoopers. In my commercial seat I have reviewed and advised on software licence agreements, website user terms and conditions, international agreements and run the due diligence process on a share and asset sale.
  • Jon Napier
Jon Napier Just now I work in personal injury litigation and am involved in the whole range of case work. I will meet clients with my supervisor, draft statements, research their cases, attend court and negotiate settlements, to name just a few things. I also meet and advise clients under the firm's free legal advice scheme on my own - which can be a bit daunting sometimes!
