Profile
Maintain, support, research and develop the core business applications in use by the firm.

Experience required
- Educated to degree level in an IT discipline.
- 4 years experience working within the legal sector of IT
- 2 years experience in supporting and maintaining legal applications.
- Current Microsoft recognised accreditation either as an MSCE or MCAD
- Good working knowledge of Bighand, Visualfiles, DPS and Interwoven.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft enterprise applications.
- Good working knowledge of database technologies such as SQL and Progress
Key tasks
Provide technical support for core business applications
- Second line support for all calls logged by helpdesk
- Liaise with users in resolving issues
- Ensure that all calls are dealt with efficiently and solutions recorded in IT Knowledge Base
Liaise with suppliers and perform maintenance updates and upgrades for core business applications
- Keep core systems running by applying latest service packs, hotfixes, etc.
- Liaise with suppliers in suggesting new development ideas
- Keep up to date with latest technologies used by suppliers by attending workshops/briefings
- Schedule planned maintenance to systems where needed
Work with staff to further the adoption and development of core business applications within the firm
- Head/attend regular meetings/briefings with staff to understand business processes and the uses of the core systems within the firm.
- Highlight any working practices that can be improved. Liaise with Head of IT/IT Manager and develop solutions.
Build and maintain a technical library of configuration and know-how for all core applications.
- Keep the IT Technical Library up-to-date
- Document all core applications
- Ensure that know-how deemed crucial is publicly available to all staff through e-mail bulletins, Intranet, etc.
